Support the Press
Dear Friend of Perugia Press,
When a Perugia Press book wins a prestigious book award, we know we’re not the only ones who love our books. We know our selection process — choosing one winner from a submission pool of nearly 500 — is right on target. And we know other judges think our books are worthy of further recognition.
What’s so exciting is that the odds are against us — given that we produce only one book each year — and yet our books keep on winning!
- How to Live on Bread and Music, by Jennifer K. Sweeney, won the prestigious 2009 James Laughlin Award of the Academy of American Poets, the only national prize awarded to a second book.
- Two Minutes of Light, by Nancy K. Pearson, won the 2009 PEN New England/L. L. Winship Award and was a finalist for a Lambda Literary Award.
- Beg No Pardon, by Lynne Thompson, won the Great Lakes Colleges Association New Writers Award. The prize is a 12-college reading tour.
- Lamb, by Frannie Lindsay, was the runner-up for the James Laughlin Award of the Academy of American Poets.
- Kettle Bottom, by Diane Gilliam Fisher, won a slew of awards, including the 2008 Thomas and Lillie D. Chaffin Award for Appalachian Writing, Four years after it was published, this book is still gaining acclaim.
- Red, by Melanie Braverman, won the Publishing Triangle Audre Lorde Poetry Prize, and was a finalist for a Lambda Literary Award.
When you make a donation to Perugia Press, you can be assured that you’re making a sound investment in the early work of up-and-coming poets. We may be biased toward our poets, but clearly they have a large appeal. Please join us.
Sincerely,
Susan Kan, Director
